Food for Thought!

This morning while I just sat after a 35 minute workout to sip my “Green Tea”, as always, some random thoughts flashed through my mind with each sip I had to “Feel Light, Feel Active” as the Lipton Green Tea box read. I started pondering over the fact that the world is today full of exclusive artifacts in food and drinks for healthy living, better immunity, stronger body etc. but somehow couldn’t trace a brand making the right and healthy Food and Drinks for the mind. As I infer, what good food does to the body, good thoughts do to the mind. But what thoughts are “GOOD” and who is the manufacturer of those “GOOD THOUGHTS”. My dear friends, to your surprise, I must tell you, that in the field of manufacturing the “FOOD FOR THOUGHT”, you all are The Entrepreneurs. There’s no factory outlet we can buy it from, it’s an intangible asset we all hold by the grace of Almighty who made us all His supreme most creation with superlative inherent qualities that almost none of the other living beings on earth possess.

Do you remember the last thought your mind manufactured? I am sure it’s not just one thought; it’s a series or an amalgamation of thoughts which keep flashing every now and then to and fro your minds. As per a report of a Mind Matters’ research, it was found that a human being has about 12000-16000 thoughts per day. If you were to jot down all the thoughts you had and were to read them back to yourself, you’d rather leave it half way. A rather Simple and Apt inference: “You yourself are not much of a Foodie of your own thoughts!”

To put it this way, “Think what you would love to read back to yourself”. How about thinking of a fun memory of a trip with family or friends, instead of a gloomy memory of a friend letting you down in front of others. How about thinking of giving a rice plate to someone who just has one meal a day (or may be not even that) instead of grumbling in mind about how bad was the taste of the food you had this morning and hoping to getting something better for lunch. How about thinking of giving a call to a close old school friends instead of cribbing “no one ever calls me, why should I”. And how about thinking of taking your family out for dinner (of course the COVID is still in-so you can avail the ZOMATO/SWIGGY services) after a long tiring office day instead of complaining of not having time for family due to long working hours. And friends, how about listening to your favourite songs or use the google reading feature to read to you your favourite book while you keep on doing your household chores instead of pitying yourself for not having any leisure time! How about reversing the pattern of thinking about “All what you HAVE” instead of “All what you DON’T HAVE”.

Friends, as they say “it’s all in the mind”. We are blessed with the extraordinary power of being able to control our mind, body and senses (if at all we want to). Reading some inspiring literary works, listening to some motivating Ted Talks or sitting calm and rejoicing in the lap of nature or simply doing a deep breathing exercise are just a few nourishing foods for the mind. To have them or not is completely your decision. As I said earlier, you my dear friend are the “Entrepreneur” of your  “Mind Business”. It’s the “CAPITAL” of THOUGHTS that you input into the business that’ll raise the “SHARE VALUE” of a peaceful and more content life and decrease the “CHALLENGES” or “THREATS” to the business posed by negative thoughts leading to depression or stress .I just tried putting it in the business perspective as the “WELL EDUCATED” genre of today loves talking in Business Jargons.

Now a days, the cases of hypertension, depression, suicides or on the rise (for reasons whatsoever) leading to the requirement of “Counselling Sessions” like facilities or I can call them “treatments”. But what I feel and wish to share is that ” No other person can COUNSEL you better than you or No other person can TREAT you better than you!” People, remember, LIFE is in the moments that pass away sooner than you can plan. So it’s important that we do not waste these precious moments with the negativity of our thoughts. That one moment of negative thought, or that one moment of anger upon your dear one, that one moment of grudge against a friend, that one moment of envy of someone’s success, that one moment of cribbing, grumbling, grudging and complaining…….All are lost important moments of your precious and SHORT life that you could have molded into better by reversing the intent of what of you thought.

You are the result of your thoughts. You actually become what you think. Just imagine if your mind was asked to feed upon all the aforementioned negative thoughts all through your life, what would happen to your mind. It’ll get all dusted, rusted and busted. This is where stress, hypertension and depression arise from. These are the just the biological terms we give to negativity in thoughts. You actually might not need a neuro specialist or a psychologist or a counselor, sometimes you might just need an hour with your loved ones, a soothing music track, a nice long read, a romedy reel, a walk on a silent track or just a good night sleep!

Many of you would agree with me upon having instances when you said to yourself “What was I thinking!!” and then laughed it over. A thought of repent would not travel you back to time to be able to correct it, instead a thought of an apology might better a lost relationship. A thought of jealousy might not get you what you are envious for, instead a thought of how to get it for yourself with innovation, passion and diligence would change your life for better. A thought of vengeance might not bring you the contentment you desire, instead, reciprocating a bad deed with a good would get you a sounder sleep.

Feed your mind with thoughts that can seize each moment of your life for greater good. It’s all within you-in your minds. As you understand the importance of zero/low calorie food for staying physically fit and active, you surely have the capability to understand the significance of “Positive Thoughts” to keep your mind emotionally sound and at peace.
